JERRY YACHABACH DONATES $25,000!
Alpha Eta extends a great big THANK YOU to Jerry Yachab-
ach for his tremendous gift of $25,000 to the chapter. With this
contribution, Jerry has established an annual endowed scholar-
ship that will be given to an outstanding undergraduate brother
each Founders Day. Jerry will present the award for the first time
at Founders Day on March 10, 1990. The award will recognize
achievement in scholarship, leadership, campus involvement and
also reflect Jerry's desire that the award benefit a brother needing
financial assistance.
Jerry's commitment to Pi Kappa Alpha began in 1956 when he
left his hometown of Lakeland and started as a freshman at the
University of Florida. By the end of rush week, Jerry had pledged
PiKA along with other Lakeland boys Nelson DeCamp, Hank
Innis, Landis Fleming and Bob Preston. And so began Jerry's as-
sociation with our great fraternity.
Jerry was an engineering major and took an average of 50
credit hours per year. By working hard he was able to get two
IS
engineering degrees in only four years: Electrical in 1959 and
Mechanical in 1960. As well, he graduated with honors for both
Jerry and Jinny Yachabach enjoying Homecoming
degrees. One might say that scholarship was very high priority

for the young Jerry Yachabach.
Jerry's commitment went farther than just the classroom.
Jerry lived in the fraternity house for all four years; first living in the old house on 13th and Univer-

sity and then as one of the first brothers to live in the new house at its present location. He was one

of those brothers who could be counted on to lead and to serve. In addition to his studies, Jerry
made time to serve the fraternity as Rush Chairman, Scholarship Chairman, Intramurals Chairman
and House Manager. He served a term as IMC. He was recognized by the chapter with the
