acrimant 5-23 MAY 24 1956 PAGE HISTORY OF Alpha Eta CHAPTER FOR YEAR 1955 TO 1956 PROLOGUE The year 1955-1956 was one of promise rather than reali- zation for Alpha Eta. For two years this chapter has been slumping on the Florida campus. The causes for this down- fall are varied; the old house is usually blamed but the basic reason has been a lack of true spirit to work for our fraternity. Yet this year the cycle finally changed and the Pikes started climbing. Our parties had always been great, but this year's were greater. Our politiciens ranked high on campus and a swarm of younger brothers and pledges have laid a stable groundwork for more campus influence. The pledge class was small compared to earlier years, but their quality was unbeatable. The cycle was reversed by a few out- standing brothers of this chapter who refused to acknowledge the slump and literally fought for Pi Kappa Alpha, and this spirit caught in the younger segments of the chapter. And next year students will say of the Pikes, "They're the tops."
