PAGE 1 HISTORY OF CHAPTER FOR YEAR 19 47 TO Zeta 1948 19 JUN - 4 1948 Zeta's enrollment for this year was about 70 actives and 30 pledges. Abput ten pledges were init- iated during the year Since we had such a large enrollment, the emphasis in pledging new men was towards quality and not quantity. Pledge training was conducted in the manner of past years, with the program as outlined in the Pledgemaster's Manual. Among various schemes for getting questionable pledges to demonstrate greater interest and cooperation in the fraternities activities, the personal conference (inwhich the pledge was questioned, instructed, and en- couraged to air his greviences) was found to be the most successful. Three of the brothers, the SMC, Pledgemaster, and one other was the number usually present at such conferences. We are considering having each member of next fall's pledge class chose a project that will be his per- sonal contribution to the chapter. It is felt that such an enterprise will more closely integrate the pledge with the aims and success of the fraternity.. The officers for the fall term were: Steve Doka SMC Bob Frasier IMC Charles Harty SC James Cole The Terrill Twitty Housemanger For the spring term the officers were as above with the exception of Housemanger. These duties were assumed by Perry Laten. All the officers served well in their capacities. The general sentiment of the chapter was one of satis- faction with the manner in which duties were performed. There were several occasions of minor disputes but the overall picture was one of as complete harmony as could be expected in a fraternalorganization composed of 70 members of normally divergent interests and opinions. The table has been well run for the past year. Our House Mother, Mrs, Thorpe, has had an influence in this direction and the work of both Brothers Twitty and Laten have been capable. It doesnot seem fair, however, nathoffice
