George C. Willcox served in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant with the VR-5 Squadron during World War II. He died on July 2, 1943, when the plane he was in collided with a mountain near Dutch Harbor, Alaska, enroute from Seattle to Attu in the Aleutians
