Conner Hopkins served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Second Lieutenant in the 76th Bombardment Squad during World War II. He died on January 19, 1942, when the B-26 Marauder #40-1513 bomber he co-piloted failed to gain altitude. The wing clipped a tree and the plane crashed and exploded at McCord Field, Tacoma, Washington.
