Pikes are a Knockout in 1983
by Joe Pruna
After a first place tie last year, the prevailing thought
throughout the Pike house in preparation for the 1983
Phi Delt Slugfest was, "Take No Prisoners - Accept
No Ties!" With a combination of hard work and
dedication that was as effective as their own "one-
two's" in the rings, the "thought" prevailed as the Pike
boxing team literally "knocked out" the opposition to
win the 1983 Slugfest for the glory of the garnet and
gold.

which four fraternities battle each other to benefit the
United Way. With 200 enthusiastic brothers, pledges,
and little sisters the Pike boxing team took on the best
from Phi Delta Theta, Chi Phi, and Delta Tau Delta
fraternities. The brothers boxing were - Steve Good-

still didn't have a fighter in the 120-29 lb. class. So
Steve unselfishly worked as hard as any fighter to drop
down to 129 lbs. But all the hard work paid off as Steve
knocked out his opponent in the second round and
was named outstanding boxer of the Slugfest.

Thanks again to William we were able to win the

Once again, the Alpha Eta Pikes have proven to the
other UF fraternities that no matter what we are
fighting for, we are winners. And we are Winners,
