Box 2608 Alpha Eta Chapter Gainesville, Florida University of Florida HISTORICAL SKETCH 1962-1963 Alpha Eta began a good year with a hard working pledge class which consisted of forty men. Twenty-six of these men made their grades and were initiated the following trimester. Our homecoming was successful one. Although we did not take any honors, the spirit of the chapter was high and every- one worked hard. Our reward was much greater than the mere winning of a trophy. Alpha Eta's community service projects were few but were valuable to the chapter. We sold poppies for the V.F.W., and we gave blood at the J, Hillis Miller Health Center. Our most rewarding project was sponsoring a tiny-mite football team. The boys played their best and produced a winning season. The team wore the traditional white jerseys bearing PiKA in red on the front and a red numerial on the back. These boys help the chapter in many ways. They are a valuable asset to rushing, they help Pi Kappa Alpha to become recognized in the community, and perhaps someday they too will wear the Pike badge.
