TTRA mt MAY 10 12 1961 ALPHA ETA HISTORY 1959-1960 This was a big year for Alpha Eta beginning with fall rush. We began with 350 names which we cut down rapidly so that in the end we extended approximately 70 bids. Of these 70 bids we got 39 of our top rushees. Alpha Eta sponsored the Tiny Mites, a little league foot- ball team, and we are proud to say that they had an undefegted season. These young boys are a tremendous asset in rush, and in a long range view, someday day they may don the badge of Pi K A themselves. The team wore jerseys bearing the garnet letters, TIKA. This gave the fraternity quite a bit of good publicity and recognition. The team played at several of the university football games also, either before the game or at half-time. At Homecoming, Alpha Eta stepped out in here finest dress and walked away with top honors. We won first place in both float and house divisions, and these two awards gave us enough points to take the Sweepstakes Trophy. We also received a letter from Dr. J. Wayne Reitz, President of the university, commending us for our work. Among our community service projects this year we can list the following: (1) painting and cleaning up the Boy's Club in Gainesville, (2) having a Christmas party for the child- renin the university medical center, (3) having a Christmas party for the old folks at the Shady Rest Home for the Aged, 1
