HISTORY OF Alpha Eta
CHAPTER FOR YEAR
1947 TO
1948
The fall semester of 1947 ushered in the "big
school" era of the University of Florida's history. With
a record enrollment of over eight thousand

five hundred co-eds
came ninety brothers of Alpha Eta
Chapter to carry forward the traditions of the fraternity
and to spread the friendship for which Pi Kappa Alpha is
noted.
The first work of the chapter began by getting
the Chapter House in top shape for that most important
part of fraternity activity Rush Week for it is at
this time that the fraternity pledges those new men who
will one day carry on the work of Pi Kappa Alpha.
Rushing officially began on September 16th and at its
close, sixty six new men were found to be wearing the
pledge pin of Pi Kappa Alpha. Credit for the success of
the Rush Program must be given to Brother Barney Alford,
who worked diligently during the preceeding summer in
collaboration with the Rush Captains of thevvarious cities
in the state.
