CHAPTER FOR YEAR
Sept.12°32 ToJune 5 1933

Thirty-eight brothers gathered on September 12
to begin anew their studies at the University of
Florida. The officers elected the previous
spring were: Bro. Charles L. Raulerson of Okee-
chobee, S.M.C.; Jack Peters of Sanford, I.M.C.;
J. E. Lupfer of Kissinmee, S.C.; Emory Bryan of
Gainesville, M.S.; William Rehbaum of Clearwater,
M.S. The House Manager, F. L. Miller of Sanford,
and the Th.C., B. T. Patterson of Dunnellen, held
over from the previous semester.
Under the leadership of Jack Peters as rushing
chairman, a very active and vigoroussrushing cam-
paign was carried on throughout the State. As the
cumulation of activities a large number of alumni,
actives, and prospects gatherec in Orlando for one
of the most successful banquets ever held. The
Chapter as & whele took a much greater interest in
rushing than heretofore. and as a result Alpha-
Eta pledged a group which was probably the most
outstanding group pledged by any fra ternity on
the campus/ Within a few minuted after the zero
pledging hour these men had # pledge buttons.
They were the following: J. C. Adkins, Jr.; W.
T. Bodiford; Haldane Boykin; W. W. Chase, Jr.;
D. D. Davenport; Strachan Duncan; Jack C. Fosgate;
J. D. Gable; Curtis Haggard; Ben A. Hinson; J.
Burwell Howard; Newton Jackson; Jack H. Kline;
Lawrence W. Mims; Tom Lee Murrell; Charles T.
O'Rork, Jr.; Jimmie Pratt; Ernest Stevens; Donald
Walker; Boyd H. Harris; Bill Fuller. The Fresh-
men were placed in charge of John Lavin, who
instructed them fully in their responsibilities
as In prospective members of the fraternity, and
as Florida men.
An attempt was made to emphasis the scholastic
responsibilities of the members of the fraternity.
Although Alpha-Eta is not at the top of the
scholastic rating, definite and constructive
advances have been made over the last few years.
Terry Patterson was again awarded the Chapter
cup for outstanding scholarship. He maintained
a straight A average.
Alpha-Eta maintained its position of social
supremecy. Bro. Jack Peters was President (Captain)
of "Pirates", highest campus social organization.
Bres. Shelton Baxter, Obbie Bessent, and Harry
Duncan were elected to membership in "Pirates".
The Chapter also had members in "L'Apache"
"Colonels", "Bacchus", "Theta", and "Serpents".
