HISTORY OF ALPHA-ETA OF PI KAPPA ALPHA FOR 1931-1932 September 14, 1931, found most of the year's active chapter back fot the first meeting of the year. As rushing season got under way, Alpha-Eta's chapter rool had swelled to one of the largest in the history of the chapter, and we began to look forward to a year of successmand achievement. At the arrival of the zero hour in campus rushing, we pledged nineteen men and three more were added to the list before many days had passed. Finally our pledge roster included: Roy Symes, George Moye, Bruce Laney, James Fortner, Robert Barnes, Arno Langford, Robert Montgomery, William Woolery, William Rehbaum, Lewis Wood, Walton McMullen, Thomas Barton, John Tomlinson, Alex- ander Smith, Emery Bryan, Shelton Baxter, Herbert Boltin, Thomas Hannah, Truxton Jackson, Charles Lavin, Roscoe Bass, and Cecil McLean. Ten of these men were initiated early in the second sem- ester, and two more men were pledged about that time. They were: Harbert Gregory and Osborne Bessent. Football season opened with three II's holding down first string positions in the Fighting Gator team. Joe Hall won honors at Right End, Al Rogero led the Florida attack from the backfield, while Broward McCleidan, although handicapped by a broken leg at the start and forced to be inactive in early games, finished strong as a halfback in the final engagements. Hall and McClellan closed their collegiate gridiron careers, but Rogero still has a year ahead of him as a triple threat lùminary. Alpha-Eta boasted a particularly strong representation in Freshman football with five pledges showing up well in the "rat" en- gagements. Four of them were Coach Cowell's first choice
