In these general orders, the United States Army posthumously confers upon Paul Herbert Eklund the Silver Star for gallantry in action. Lieutenant Eklund exposed himself to enemy fire in order to aid in the evacuation of the wounded, then stood and fire his automatic weapon into the enemy fortification.
