A TIME OF PLEDGING
Frank McLane
An initiation approached, the pledge class of fall quarter
being able to look back on their program of training as a period of
growth and develppment-mentally, physically, and spiritually. And
now the pledges of another quarter have finished their formal study
and wonder how many weeks how many long, anxiety-ridden days and
nights will it be before they will be put before the final vote and
test to become a brother, a member in sacred friendship an E-Z
Pike?! Each quarter has helped each pledge to realize the deeper
meaning of Pi Kappa Alpha and what it means to become a part of this
brotherhood.
From the very start, it seemed apparent that the brothers
of Epsilon-Zeta would once again prevail as campus leaders, as the
chapters pulled togethers to get twenty-three pledges on a very se-
lective basis for fall rush. of those twenty-three, fourteen were
initiated into the bonds of brotherhood. They were: Johhny Thomas,
Doug Cornett, Sonny Mann, Ron Cardwell, Charles Phillips, Melvin
Sword, Bob Rainey, Warren Furguson, Barry Haynes, Jim Fisher, John
Rhea, Mike Thompson, Bob McCreery, and Gene Pack. You alums have no
doubt met these men during our founder's day week-end.
The recent initiation was stimulated this year by the use
of INGRESS, a new development by the ever-alert national office.
It
provided the framework to give us the fourteen good brothers we
initiated. The pledge class was one of the best ever for Epsilon-
Zeta, and they worked as true IIKAs. Their pledge project was the
selling of a television set, which proved to be profitable. May I
express my sincere appreciation for the alumni who have been taking
an active interest in our chapter.
A CHANGE OF OFFICERS
Bob Rainey
On February 28 of this year, a new slate of able men were
selected to lead the fraternity for the following academic year.
It
is interesting to note that we are using the talents of three new
brothers along with the dder brothers to keep our leadership ever
strong:
President
Pat Trimboli
Vice-President
Larry Scott
Treasurer
Bob McCreery
Secretary
Warren Furguson
Alumni Relations
Bob Rainey
Pledge Master
Nick Hart
House Manager
Sid Oakley
